The Department of Nursing at Providence College (also referred to as “the College” or “PC”), seeks to fill the position of Chair and Full/Associate Professor of the Department of Nursing in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS). The chosen candidate is expected to begin in August 2026.

We are seeking applicants with teaching, research, leadership, and/or clinical practice experience in nursing. The ideal candidate will be able to make meaningful connections between best practices in nursing education dedicated to the dignity of the whole person and in support of the Catholic Mission and identity of the College.

In conjunction with the Associate Dean of Nursing, will provide strategic leadership and assume the primary responsibility for guiding the implementation and ongoing evaluation of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program, as well as all future undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.

Lead the appointment and oversee the professional development of an outstanding teaching and practitioner faculty who are dedicated to scholarship, student development, and the College’s distinctive Catholic and Dominican mission and identity.  

Serve as a mentor who supports and inspires faculty to perform their responsibilities and duties as educators, clinical supervisors, laboratory instructors and researchers using the latest simulation and advanced educational technology. The successful candidate will also provide oversight of continuous program assessment, student academic progress and retention, and all effectiveness measures required by accrediting bodies and in official College policy and procedures.

This is an exciting and historic opportunity to join PC’s newly established School of Nursing and Health Sciences as it shapes an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum for the next generation of students entering nursing and other health professions. The 153,000 sq. ft state-of-the-art Ben Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences houses the School of Nursing and Health Sciences’ existing and future undergraduate and graduate programs. This one-of-a-kind facility opened in January 2025 and features the latest classroom design and technologies and showcases expansive clinical simulation and research facilities. A student career education and advising center, along with conference and meeting space, is included as part of the inspiring resources intended for the next generation of healthcare providers, faculty, and staff.

A doctoral degree is required for this faculty appointment.  Salary range: $130,000 - $190,000.         

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in nursing (e.g., Ph.D., DNSc, or DNP). Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Demonstrated experience in teaching at the collegiate level. Unencumbered license as a registered nurse or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Rhode Island.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Experience in academic leadership within an accredited nursing education program.  Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and program evaluation.
